I am a general assignment reporter for the Reporter-Times and Mooresville Decatur Times in Morgan County, Indiana. Originally from Greenwood, Indiana, I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University.
I gained lots of writing and communication skills during my time at IWU. For the past two years, I have been the Editor-in-Chief of The Sojourn, IWU’s campus news source. During junior year, my first year as Editor, I helped with the transition of switching from being a biweekly newspaper to becoming an all-digital news website.
During my senior year, I completed a senior project– creating a magazine. It was very challenging because I had zero design experience going into it. But, looking back, I wouldn’t choose a different senior project. I’m glad I chose something out of my comfort zone and gained a new skill I can continue to build upon.
After graduation in April, I had one week off before beginning my career at the Reporter-Times in Martinsville, Indiana. There, I am responsible for the content of their newspaper, the Mooresville-Decatur Times, which runs twice a week. Since I am the only one assigned to this paper, I cover everything in Mooresville, including government, education, news and features. I also cover some stories in Monrovia and Decatur as well.
In my free time, I like to write for my fashion blog I created two years ago: Sharp Carp.
In the future– I’m not sure yet! I want to be open to whatever because you never know what life may throw your way, and I want to be ready for it. As long as I know I’m making a difference in someone’s life, then I’ll be satisfied with whatever I am doing. 🙂
Enjoy my website 🙂
