I am a senior studying Convergent Journalism at Indiana Wesleyan University. I am from Greenwood, Indiana and graduated from Center Grove High School.
For the past two years, I have been the Editor-in-Chief of The Sojourn, IWU’s campus news source. Last year, I helped with the transition of switching from being a biweekly newspaper to becoming an all-digital news website.
This past summer, I worked as an editorial intern at Indianapolis Monthly. My main job was fact checking the stories that were ready to go to print, but I also wrote many articles for the magazine and website. I mainly wrote fashion pieces because I am very interested in fashion journalism. It was an amazing experience, and has led me to continue freelancing for them.
This semester, I just ended my senior project– creating a magazine. It was very challenging because I had zero design experience going into it. But, looking back, I wouldn’t choose a different senior project. I’m glad I chose something out of my comfort zone and gained a new skill I can continue to build upon.
In my free time, I like to write for my fashion blog I created two years ago: Sharp Carp.
After graduation, I would love to write for a fashion magazine, but am also interested in Radio and T.V. News. I either want to work in Indianapolis or Washington, D.C., working for a newspaper or magazine. Also, I hope to become a world traveler!
